Foreign trade (INTRASTAT)

Monthly international trade in goods statistics (ITGS) covers imports and exports of movable goods. The international trade in goods statistics of Austria are based on data from the data collection systems INTRASTAT (cross border movements of goods inside the EU) and EXTRASTAT (cross border movements of goods with third states).

Within “Explanations, help” you can find detailed functional instructions on INTRASTAT in the INTRASTAT-Guidelines Austria for EBS  as well as a detailed description for the Reporting Tool Intra Collect (RTIC) in the RTIC-Help for EBS document.

ITGS and therefore INTRASTAT is legally regulated on a national and EU-level. National regulations refer mainly on EU regulations on EBS (European Business Statistics) and simultaneously take reference to the special national situation. For more details, see INTRASTAT-Guidelines Austria for EBS.

Data protection is a major concern for us, therefore we would like to refer to our extensive data protection information sheet (in german only):

Economic operators are obliged to report INTRASTAT-declarations, if the value of their imports and/or exports of goods to EU member states exceeds the assimilation threshold. Is the threshold exceeded in the current year, the economic operator is obliged to report data from the respective month. The assimilation threshold from the reporting year 2022 onwards amounts to 1 100 000 Euros. For further details, see INTRASTAT-Guidelines Austria for EBS.

INTRASTAT-respondents have to report declarations monthly. The 10th working day of the following month is the legal deadline for the INTRASTAT-declaration. For further details, see INTRASTAT-Guidelines Austria for EBS.

For data transmission to Statistics Austria you are able to use our Reporting Tool RTICFor technical details on RTIC see RTIC-Help for EBS.

If you want to use the functionality “password forgotten”, please deposit your eMail-address in the application “eMail verification”. Here you can find further information (PDF; 250 KB) concerning “password forgotten”!
