Innovations are new or improved goods, services or business processes that differ significantly from the firm’s previous goods, services or business processes and that have been introduced on the market or brought into use by the firm.
Every two years a number of indicators, such as the share of innovation-active enterprises, the share of turnover with innovations, innovation expenditures and public funding for innovation are collected as part of the Innovation Survey (CIS) among enterprises with ten or more employed persons.
The Innovation Survey is based on Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 on European business statistics and is complemented by an implementing regulation that is adapted every two years.
