Pensions

Description

Pensions cover benefits paid by Social security institutions (pension insurance, accident insurance) and civil servants’ pensions (civil servants' pensions and survivors' pensions) as well as social compensation for war victims and military service victims. Data are provided by the Umbrella Organization of Social Security Institutions (Dachverband der Sozialversicherungsträger) and by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Sozialministerium).

According to the concept of the European System of Integrated Social Protection Statistics – ESSPROS recipients of pension benefits comprise in addition pensions from the Night and Heavy Work Act (special pension), occupational pensions and from the Unemployment insurance (special benefit, transition benefit). Beneficiaries of several pension benefits are covered in each relevant function. However, in total they are only counted once. Corresponding results in the EU are available on the Eurostat website.
