Description

Migration within Austria

Internal migration covers all changes of main residency within the borders of Austria. They can be dived into migration flows between municipalities, political districts and federal territories (NUTS-2).

Since 2002 migration statistics are based on administrative registrations and de-registrations of main residencies in the Central Register of Residence (CRR). Not covered by migration statistics, however, are all changes of residence within the same building. Only persons who have registered a main residence in Austria for at least 90 consecutive days are included.
