Statistics on job vacancies provide information on the unmet demand for labour in Austria. According to the Job Vacancy Survey, a job vacancy is defined as a newly created, vacant or soon-to-be-vacant paid position for which active steps are being taken to find suitable applicants outside the company.
Job vacancies are presented both quarterly and as a yearly average, broken down by economic sectors according to ÖNACE 2008 (production, service and public sectors). Furthermore, the yearly average of job vacancies can be illustrated by occupation (Ö-ISCO 08), minimum education, apprenticeship, extent of working time, seasonal contract, registration with the AMS, search duration and expected gross income. In addition to the results of the Job vacancy survey, registered job vacancies at the AMS are published by occupation (AMS job classification) and federal province.
