Ensuring healthy conditions at the workplace is an important health policy task. A prerequisite for this is the identification of workplace-related health risks and problems so that appropriate measures can be taken to counteract them.

As part of ad hoc modules to the Microcensus Labour Force Survey, Statistics Austria collects data (risks, health problems, occupational accidents) on workplace health at regular intervals. The data sets for the modules can be obtained from AUSSDA (Austrian Social Science Data Archive). The legal basis for the survey is EU Regulation No. 349/2011 concerning statistics on accidents at work. In addition, the Federation of Social Insurances maintains annually updated statistics on recognised insured events in connection with occupational activities (accidents at work, commuting accidents, occupational diseases). Statistics Austria provides additional key figures from these statistics.
