Innovations and all its different characteristics are considered key drivers for the improvement of competitiveness, productivity and the firms' potential for growth. This publication gives an overview on innovation activities in Austrian enterprises between 2018 and 2020. It contains basic information on the share of innovation active enterprises by various types of innovation, the share of turnover of product innovations, the degree of innovation cooperation with third parties, innovation expenditures, and hampering factors for innovation.
This sample survey was conducted by Statistics Austria on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW). A questionnaire which was harmonised on the European level was used as well as standardised definitions and a common methodology.
